Since it seems appropriate to start at the beginning…

I was born in New York City to loving parents in the year 1967. Until the age of 17, I lived in Manhattan and attended the Collegiate School. I graduated from Duke University with a BA in Economics in 1989 and thereafter I had a successful career as a director of a major international trade finance company.

In 1996 I quit my job because I was experiencing intense feelings of disconnectedness from the Earth.  I moved to Northern Arizona in order to be close to the land and launched into the full time study of the mystery schools.  I read a plethora of books, attended a multitude of classes and simultaneously graduated from the California College of Ayurveda in 1999 with the degree of Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist.  During my studies in California, I fell severely ill and it was only with the help of many gifted healers that I was able to fully recover.  It was during this period of illness and recovery that I reached deeply into the spiritual and intuitive sides of my being for guidance.

In late 1999, I moved to the magical garden island of Kauai where I currently reside.  The spirits of the land still act strongly on Kauai and it is here that I learned to trust my intuitive knowing and to follow its guidance.

Although intuitive knowing has been a part of my life since I was a small child, my supersensory experiences were so far removed from the interpretation of reality with which I was raised that I always felt a great uneasiness within me when my intuition conflicted with the belief system of my upbringing.  Training with Michael Harner, Sandra Ingerman, Carol Proudfoot Edgar and the Foundation for Shamanic Studies helped to resolve that conflict by providing me with a framework of interpretation for my experiences that finds common roots in indigenous traditions from around the world.

Continued support form Chris Carron, a gifted healer in Northern Arizona, helped me to further trust the validity of my own personal experience and helped my energy body attain sufficient cohesion so that I could use my super-sensory perception in a purposeful way.  I was able to further build on that foundation under the tutelage of Keith Arthur Goode of Tai Chi Thailand.

My education at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) helped to root my intuitive knowing in a solid foundation of practical methods for treading safely and mindfully on the Earth and for tending our human companions.

Finally, it is the acceptance and love of my friends who have embarked on similar journeys and who continue to surround and support me that has been vital at those times when I doubted myself.  I am truly grateful for all your love and friendship.

May you walk in beauty,

Scott
